Of course! Chicken broth is high in health-promoting minerals and vitamins that can enhance your dog’s overall wellness. Several of the benefits include:

 Better joint health

Because chicken broth is created using bones and cartilage, it’s high in collagen
and gelatin, which are proven to help with joint health.

 Liver and kidney detoxification

Glycine, an amino acid found in chicken broth, can aid in the detoxification of a
dog’s kidneys and liver.

 Improved digestive system

Glycine also helps your dog’s digestive lining heal and prevents a leaky gut

 Better appetite

When your pet is unwell, chicken soup can help to stimulate his appetite. It’s a
nutritious and tasty supplement to a dog’s supper that may encourage him to
start consuming food again.

Recipe Note: The apple cider vinegar is a must-have ingredient in this dish. It helps to extract the important nutrients from the chicken, ensuring that the broth is filled with collagen.

  3. Bring the water to a boil in a large pot. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 12–24 hours once the water has reached a boil.

Recipe Note: If you’re using a burner, cook the broth for 12 hours; if you’re using a slow cooker, cook it for 24 hours.
  4. Strain the mixture and discard the bones once the broth is ready. Simply remove the carcass if you used a whole chicken.

    Sieve Chicken Bones From Broth
Recipe Note: This step is crucial as the leftover bones are a choking hazard and may crack in your dog’s mouth, causing a splinter.
  5. Refrigerate the broth after it has been stored in a container. Once the fat layer on top of the broth has developed, skim it off and discard it.

What About Store-Bought Chicken Broth?

Yes, your dog can safely consume store-bought chicken broth. However, before giving the soup to your pet, double-check the components.

Avoid broths that have a lot of salt, preservatives, or onions in them because these elements are bad for your dog. Stick to organic, non-GMO chicken broths as a safe bet.

How Much Chicken Broth Should My Dog Consume?

A common serving size of chicken broth for a dog is 30ml of broth per 4.5kg of body weight. Giving your pet up to two servings per day is safe. If this is the first time you’re feeding your canine friend chicken broth, then we advise you start with 1 serving of liquid each day. Once you feel that your dog is ready, you can start adding a second portion of broth to his diet.

How to Feed Your Dog Chicken Broth

 Serve it as it is

You may just leave the chicken broth in your dog’s bowl and let him drink it like water. This will help to enhance your dog’s drink intake and keep him hydrated.

 Pour it over the kibble

While kibble is delicious on its own, adding chicken broth can help it taste even better. This is a frequent method used by pet owners to cope with picky eaters in their animals. Besides, adding broth to dry dog food softens it, making it suitable for pets with dental problems.

 Make chicken broth popsicles

On a hot day, you can freeze the chicken broth in popsicle moulds and feed them to your pet to keep him hydrated. These popsicles are also a great way to keep your paw friend cool after hours of fun in the heat.

 Turn it into a slushie

After the chicken broth has been frozen, mix it until it has a slushy consistency before giving it to your dog.

How to Store Leftover Chicken Broth

1. Freeze it

If you choose to freeze the chicken broth, you’ll be able to store it for up to 6 months. A few of the best methods to freeze your broth in is by using

  • ice cube trays,
  • ziplock bags,
  • plastic containers or
  • glass jars.

 Note:
If you’re storing the broth in a container or jar, make sure it’s not too full to the brim. This allows the liquid to expand, lowering the likelihood of the container breaking in the freezer.

2. Simply store the broth in the fridge

Another option is to keep the leftover broth in the fridge. However, it would only stay fresh for only 4 to 5 days when you store it in the fridge. As a result, it’s critical for your dog to consume it as quickly as feasible.
