Top Foods to Avoid: Protect Your Pup’s Health by Steering Clear of These Canine Culprits!

We all know how cute it is when our pets sit with us while we eat, gazing up at us with their big, adorable eyes. As much as we may be tempted to share our food with them, it’s important to remember that some foods can be harmful to our furry friends. Even foods that are perfectly safe for us can cause severe digestive issues, organ failure, or even be fatal for our pets. Let’s show our pets love in other ways and keep them healthy and happy by avoiding sharing our food with them.

  • Bread dough containing yeast.

Yeast dough can lead to stomach bloating and even twisting, which is a potentially fatal condition.

  • Chocolate and Coffee

Chocolate and coffee both contain substances called methylxanthines (specifically, theobromine and caffeine) that are toxic to pets and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, seizures, and death

  • Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits like lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits contain citric acid and can lead to diarrhea, vomiting, and depression of the nervous system. The stems, leaves, peels, fruit, and seeds should all be avoided.

  • Dairy

Feeding your pet dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt) can cause digestive problems since many are lactose intolerant and can’t process dairy appropriately.

  • Grapes and raisins

We don’t really understand exactly why they are poisonous to pets, but there’s evidence that feeding cats and dogs grapes and raisins can lead to kidney failure

  • Nuts

Nuts, including almonds, pecans, and walnuts, are rich in oils and fats that can cause digestive upset and potentially even pancreatitis

  • Salt

In large amounts, salt and salty foods can cause vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, seizures, and even death

  • Onions, Garlic, Leeks, Scallions, Shallots, and Chives

Those vegetables and herbs are harmful to pets, and cause gastrointestinal problems and sometimes even damage to red blood cells

In addition, raw meat is good for dogs, it gives your dog a lot of nutrients that they need, but to prevent your pet from getting sick, always make sure your meat comes from proper sources and is prepared in a hygienic environment

Moreover, keep in mind that our food contains a lot of calories that they don’t need which can lead to obesity and health problems caused by it. That’s why it’s always better to assign your cat its own food and your dog its own food too and to keep them active every day with toys made for the interest of your cats or toys for your dogs.
